Skylink SC 100 Security System Deluxe Kit Skylink SC 100 Security System Deluxe Kit ReviewThe Skylink SC-100 Security System Deluxe Kit is a wireless security alarm system designed to protect you and your family from intruders, theft, accident, fire, flood or other emergency. The system is normally use in small to medium houses or offices of up to 3,000 square feet.

The SC-100 does not require monitoring or registration fees where it can be setup, arm and disarm easily. The system offers an operating range of up to 100 feet.

The Skylink SC-100 can be customised to suit your needs because it works with up to 30 Skylink security accessories including the Dial Alert. This means the system can be easily expanded to accommodate larger spaces or businesses that require higher level of protection.

The system is a DIY system where it can be easily installed and then used without paying monitoring fees or registering with an alarm company. You can enter your personal code or use the keychain transmitter to disarm the system.

The Skylink SC-100 comes with rolling-code technology which means the system delivers maximum security while virtually eliminating the number of false alarms. A rolling-code technology (hopping code) prevents an eavesdropper from capturing and using your personal security code because it does not require a key. The technology also recognize radio waves only from its remote sensors (door/window sensor, motion sensor, and keychain transmitter) thus prevent duplication of signals from high-tech thieves.

The 110dB siren that comes with the system will make a piercing sound if any sensors are triggered when the system is armed and the correct pin is not entered.

The SC-100 works with Dial Alert (sold separately) will call emergency phone numbers that you have preset when the siren goes off and play the pre-recorded message when someone answers the phone.

The SC-100 wireless alarm system is easily programmable and features lighted keypad with Chime, Instant and Delay modes. To disarm, just enter the preset pin code. When the alarm is properly set, an LED will indicate the status. Actually you don’t have to worry about the setup because all the standard accessories are pre-programmed to work with the control panel.

The Skylink SC-100 runs on AC power with one 9 volt battery (included) as backup. A low battery indicator will alert you when it is time to replace the battery.

The Skylink SC-100 wireless alarm system comes standard with control panel and keypad, motion sensor, two door/window contact sensors, 4B434 keychain transmitter, AC adapter, all DC batteries, mounting materials, and instruction manual.

Below are the summary of the pros and cons of the Skylink SC-100 Security System Deluxe Kit as experienced by its users.

Pros

  • Easy to install.
  • Easy to program/Set up.
  • Easy to use.
  • Easy to expand.
  • The remote works well.
  • It’s easy to add sensors or accessories.
  • Compared to a pro alarm, the system is very cheap but built decently.
  • The Motion Sensors work excellent, in both bright light and total darkness.
  • The chime option during the day keep one of the users posted if her little kids try to open any doors.
  • The directions are fairly straightforward and in logical order.
  • The alarm is piercingly loud.
  • Most users experience zero false alarms.

Cons

  • The remote is too bulky to carry around.
  • The control panel (SC-001), PIN pad and siren are all one unit because if a crook breaks in and smashes it to bits during the 30 seconds on a delayed entry alarm it will be worthless.
  • One of the users commented that the system has a bad design and customer service and repair facility was a real nightmare.
  • The Main Control Panel (SC-001) should have a volume control for controlling how loud the tones are when arming/disarming.
  • The Keypad Control (KP-434) which is an optional accessory should show the armed/disarmed status of the alarm. It only has two lights: “Low Battery” and “On”. The only time the “On” light comes on is when you are using the keypad. The keypad should also be backlit when you are using it.
  • The sensor magnets, which are part of the Window/Door sensors (WT-433) should have the contact terminals enclosed in the plastic housing that encloses the magnet. It would not only look cleaner, but would keep the contacts clean from dirt and possible damage by being exposed.
  • Instructions could be a bit better for setting zones
  • Ease of adding/removing sensors to specific zones could be improved.
  • Wireless transmitters need icons or labels because the users can hardly remember what are 1 dot, 2 dots, 3 dots unless you memorize them.
  • One item lacking from this system is a “ready” status because before setting the system to one of the alarm settings, you have no way of telling if all doors or windows are closed.
