GE 51107 Personal Security Alarm System Kit Review
The GE 51107 Personal Security Alarm System Kit which is priced at around $30 features a deluxe door alarm with four-digit keypad and three independent window alarms. Wiring or drilling is not required because the alarm kit is a wireless system. Each of the 120-decibel alarms is quite loud to make the intruder to hesitate entering your house doors or windows thus directly protect you and your family.
Since the GE 51107 is a wireless system, installation is easy where the deluxe door alarm and any of the window alarms can be simply mounted using either double-sided tape or screws (included with the kit).
The components are powered by batteries so no wiring is required. The units also come with battery test switch or the low battery indicator to check battery life.
120-Decibel Deluxe Door Alarm
The deluxe door alarm comes with a four-digit keypad for programming your custom pin code. Mounting plate is included and with the included double-side tape or screws, the plate can be installed easily in the preferred location. Just snap the door alarm into place on the plate. The unit is powered by 3 AAA batteries which is unfortunately not included.
The door alarm does not require any wiring work. The instant or delayed alarms can be selected with the flip of an easy-access switch.
With the “Away” mode, after you arm the system you only have 45 seconds to exit your home and when you are back, just open the door and deactivate the system within 30 seconds with your four-digit pin code. For instant alarm, just select “Home” mode when you are at home.
The GE 51107 120-decibel siren is loud enough to alert you or your neighbors and to scare the intruder so you will have time to get you and your family to safety and alert the authorities.
Other great feature that come standard with the door alarm is when not in “Alarm” mode, the kit have chime setting that alerts each time the door is open. This safety feature is very useful if you have small children that may go out of the house without any supervision.
Three Window Alarms
The GE 51107 wireless home security alarm system also comes with three independent window alarms each with built-in 120-decibel alarm. Once again no wiring is required because the window alarms can just be screwed or installed with double-sided tape on the desired windows.
Each unit also comes with on/off/chime switch and a battery-test switch. Each window alarm is powered by LR44 batteries which is included that can last for up to one year.

Below are the summary of the pros and cons of the GE 51107 Personal Security Alarm System Kit experienced by its users.
Pros
- Inexpensive alarm system that could serve as a deterrent to intruders.
- The main door unit is extremely easy to set up.
- The device can be setup to serve as a simple door chime.
- This alarm is very loud, and will at least startle most unsuspecting burglars.
- The kit includes 3 very simple window alarm and sensor pairs that are very easy to set up.
- Using chime mode, the kits have been very effective alert systems for toddlers in the house.
- The system was very easy to set up and install.
- The system made the user feel safe and secure.
- Perfect for an apartment complex.
Cons
- The system cannot substitute for a centralized alarm system in which authorities/police are immediately notified.
- The window alarms are not nearly that loud as the door unit and they turn off as soon as the window is closed.
- It would have been nice if there was a way to set the chime/alarm mode from the keypad (with the code) instead of having to open it (with a screwdriver).
- This is a toy alarm, pretty much useless in the real world.
- The tape provided is not strong enough.
- Their main flaw of the window unit is that the intruder can immediately silence the alarm by either breaking this small device or TURNING A SWITCH.
- There is no passcode for the window units.
- The door unit doesn’t want to accept the passcode sometimes.
- The alarm delay is too long. It would be easy to take the batteries out of the alarm in that time.
- The door unit doesn’t fit securely into the mounting bracket when placed on the door.
- There should be an indicator LED letting you know if the alarm is actually armed or not for the door units. The only way to tell if it is armed is by entering in your pass code and then seeing if it beeps once for (armed) or twice for (disarmed). Otherwise there is no way to tell if it’s actually armed.
- The keypad on the door units if very annoying where when you press the buttons to arm or disarm the alarm they make piercing loud beep.
